This procedure applies to all discharges, including to foul sewer and to controlled waters, resulting from maintenance activities on Network Rail owned land.

This procedure applies if:

• You manage activities where discharges may be produced.

• You are involved or responsible for activities, assets, sites or premises where discharges may be produced.

• You are responsible for leading environmental management.

Purpose

The purpose of this procedure is to outline the mechanisms by which the Maintenance function will manage discharges to foul water and controlled waters (see definitions) to comply with current legislation and Network Rail's environmental management system.
