This guidance applies to all Service Control employees including service operator and line information specialists. The guidance provides a range of options for Service Control to support Train Operators in responding to a "Bladed Weapon" incident taking place on board a London Underground train.

There is a separate security guidance note that covers the circumstances if an attack takes place outside or in the immediate vicinity of a station. (G2200 - Response options for a Marauding Terrorist Attack external to LU premises).

Purpose

The following guidance has been based upon information developed by Government, British Transport Police (BTP) and the UK rail industry to assist London Underground employees in responding to a "Bladed Weapon" incident on a train.

A "Bladed Weapon" incident is defined as an attack consisting of one or more people using items such as knives, axes or machetes, with the intention of causing mass casualties.
