Evaporative condensers are normally considered permit required confined spaces (PRCS). Under certain conditions, evaporative condensers can be reclassified to non-permit required confined spaces. This guideline is intended to assist end users in the development of procedures that will enable them to reclassify evaporative condensers and allow employees to enter them without the necessity of PRCS requirements. Because the isolation and/or removal of ammonia from evaporative condenser circuit(s) can be challenging and will sometimes be required for reclassification, various methods are presented
