This commercial item description (CID) covers electrically heated batch/box type furnaces and ovens intended for use in heat-treating processes including solution heat treating, aging, annealing, stress relieving, precipitation hardening, hardening, tempering, and normalizing metal parts in a natural or inert atmosphere for use in Aircraft Metals Technology Shops across the Air Force. Furnaces covered by this CID are not intended for controlled atmosphere use other than inert gas (argon or nitrogen) for certain high temperature applications to minimize oxidation.
