Organization: NR
Publication Date: 1 December 2008
Status: active
Page Count: 11
scope:

This specification applies to all signalling schemes where signalling equipment is altered or introduced within the area covered by the Network Rail Kent, Sussex and Wessex Routes.

Purpose

This section forms part of the Signalling Principles Handbook (NR/SP/SIG/30009) and is to be read in conjunction with the other modules of the handbook.

This module details Network Rail's policy on the design of signalling layouts on routes where the former British Rail Two Thirds freight train speed rule applies. This is guidance on a specific historical practice which it has proved impractical to move away from as a single project. Application of this standard will eventually lead to the implementation of full differential speed signage at which point the Sectional Appendix instruction and this module can be withdrawn.
