Purpose.

To provide guidance for determining which documents should be submitted to Navy Personnel Command (NAVPERSCOM) for filing into the officer and enlisted official military personnel files (OMPF). Major updates to this revision include the following changes: redefined submission of documents that require action or filing only, changed position of where to include name/social security number (SSN) on documents filed, included the Department of Defense (DoD) identification number (ID) number as part of the third party information to exclude/redact, amplified redaction of third party information to include full redaction, added paragraph regarding controlled unclassified information (CUI) markings to documents containing personal identifiable information (PII), added paragraph to enclosure (1) regarding submission of casefiles, updated the remarks sections of enclosure (2) to include action office (AO) or office of primary responsibility (OPR), removed documents and forms from enclosure (2) that is no longer active or obsolete. This instruction is a complete revision and should be reviewed in its entirety.
