Scope and Applicability.
This instruction applies to Department of the Navy military and Federal government civilian personnel currently working in medical logistics at a Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command, Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Unit, or specialty command. The Logistics Awards Program seeks to bestow special recognition to individuals and a team who epitomize logistics professionalism and excellence. Contributions must occur in the calendar year prior to when the award is to be given.
Purpose.
Naval medical logisticians are doing a tremendous job planning, obtaining, and maintaining the required equipment, consumables, and services necessary for the effective and efficient delivery of healthcare support throughout the Navy and Marine Corps. By recognizing and encouraging notable contributions, the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) Medical Logisticians Awards Program seeks to honor and distinguish the officer, enlisted, and civilian members within the logistics community for their outstanding contributions per references (a) and (b) and enclosures (1) through (3). This instruction is a complete revision and should be reviewed in its entirety.
a. In subparagraph 6d, renamed Best Business Process Team Achievement Award to Best Cross Functional Team Award.
b. Updated language in award description to properly reflect the current landscape of medical logistics.
c. In paragraph 8, removed Department of the Navy Tasking, Records and Consolidated Knowledge Enterprise Repository (DON TRACKER) and facsimile submission and replaced with email submission.
d. Removed Flag Letter of Commendation template, previously enclosure (2), and replaced with Civilian Service Achievement Medal and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal citation samples, now enclosures (2) and (3).
