Purpose.
This instruction provides guidance for Joint Force history programs. The Joint History Program provides official records of the roles of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS), Joint Staff, Combatant Commands (CCMDs), and subordinate Joint Headquarters in the development and implementation of national security policy. The program is an invaluable source of historical, doctrinal, and legal information, documenting the activities and decisions of the Joint Force.
