Creating a Site of Work Segregated from the Railway: At Lineside Locations
Organization: | NR |
Publication Date: | 3 June 2023 |
Status: | active |
Page Count: | 11 |
scope:
This module defines the processes and hierarchy of controls for use when establishing a site of works segregated from the operational railway when working in the area defined as "Lineside" within the Rule Book and NR/L2/OHS/019, that is:
a) more than 3 meters from the nearest running line; or
b) where there is a permanent fixture or structure (as defined in the Rule Book), or temporary fixed barrier, between 2 and 3m from the nearest running line
NOTE : The green areas in Figure 1 are those defined as lineside
Purpose
This module provides risk-based controls for works that take place at least 2m from the running rail so that:
a) risk to the operational railway is eliminated or reduced to as low as is reasonably practicable.
b) efficiencies can be achieved, as once the site of work designated assegregated from the railway is set up, the requirements of NR/L2/OHS/019 are no longer required allowing for non-Personal Track Safety, (PTS), holders to operate within the site of works.
NOTE : All other Network Rail standards apply unless this module is being used on a high street project, i.e. NR/L3/OHS/005 is already being applied.
