This Specification details the requirements for the design of the interface between the Thales solution for the track sub-system of TPWS and conventional signalling systems, and novel computer based interlocking and their associated power supplies. It applies to retro-fitting of TPWS to existing signalling, and to the fitment of TPWS during re-signalling. It does not apply to the fitment of TPWS in areas controlled by Radio Electronic Token Block Signalling (see Network Rail Company Standard RT/E/S/10178). This Specification also applies to the TPWS Failure Indication Unit supplied by NRS and the TPWS UPS supplied by UPS Ltd.

PURPOSE

This Specification details the requirements for the design of the signalling interface associated with the fitment of the Train Protection and Warning System (TPWS) to Network Rail infrastructure.
