scope:
Controlling movements of trains within an Engineering Supervisors worksite on Network Rail managed infrastructure where the movements are being controlled by the use of radios.
This standard does not apply to communications that take place to authorise the movement of a train into and out of a possession which are the responsibility of the PICOP and signaller.
NOTE: General safety phrases contained in the rule book should be used as appropriate.
NOTE: The arrangements for the control of movements using handsignals and/or face to face communications are not detailed in this document.
Purpose
This protocol describes the arrangements that shall be in place for radio communication between drivers, On Track Plant (OTP) operators and those in control of train movements within an Engineering Supervisors worksite when specified as an output of the work planning process that radios are to be used.
This protocol supports requirements published in the Rule Book which take primacy at all times.
