Fan-coil units specified herein are intended to be used as an alternative to built-up air conditioning recirculation systems of a ship's heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system. They provide heating, cooling, and air recirculation required to satisfy compartment environmental design conditions with a savings in space and weight over built-up systems. They are standardized by size, performance, mounting designs, and mounting and connecting dimensions. Equipment manufactured in accordance with this document is form, fit, and function replacement but has options of different supply water temperatures due to new technology in the air conditioning plants that feed chilled water to the fan-coil assemblies.
