Scope and Applicability.
This instruction applies to towing of unmanned defueled nuclear powdered submarines and defueled nuclear powdered aircraft carriers.
Purpose.
To issue policy and responsibilities for towing and escort of defueled nuclear powdered ships. This instruction is a complete revision and should be reviewed in its entirety. The changes in subparagraph 1a through 1b have been implemented.
a. Removed policy for towing of reactor compartment disposal packages.
b. Added policy for towing of defueled nuclear powdered aircraft carriers.
