This standard describes the test procedure for evaluating the sustainability of the fuel economy performance of automobile gasoline engine oils (hereinafter referred to simply as "engine oils") by measuring fuel consumption in a firing test. It should be noted that the test method described in this standard comprises a procedure for creating aged engine oils. The preparation and fuel economy measurement procedures for the engine used in the test to measure fuel economy are described in JASO M 366.
