This specification describes the performance requirements and verification requirements for the CARTRIDGE, 30 MILLIMETER: armor piercing fin stabilized discarding sabot with trace (APFSDS-T), XM1170, and CARTRIDGE, 30 MILLIMETER; target practice discarding sabot with trace (TPDS-T), XM1172, for a 30 x 173 millimeter (mm) weapon system (see 6.1). The XM1172 cartridge is to be used as the training round for the XM1170 cartridge.
