Purpose.

This standard provides a procedure to perform compressive force deflection testing for open-cell and closed-cell foam materials and any compressible thermal insulation materials which are intended for use in the cushioning layer and Cell-to-Cell barrier, respectively, of General Motors Battery packs. This test procedure describes the method for performing compression force deflection (CFD) and compression set testing on thermally resistant materials and/or cushioning foams. At the end of this test, assembly, beginning of life (BoL) and end of life (EoL) CFD curves shall be created and combined to create a 'combo curve' to feed vehicle design development and validation (VDDV) 1D analysis and decide uncompressed thickness of the material.
