This Practice describes the minimum requirements for permanently mounted, top-, bottom-, and side-entering mixers and agitators installed in pressurized or unpressurized vessels, with or without mechanical seals. This Practice does not cover requirements for portable and clamp-on light duty mixers or agitators, in-line mixers, jet-type mixers, or high-speed dispersers.

The requirements in this Practice are modifications, additions, and/or deletions (exceptions) to the requirements in PIP RESM003 - Specification for Mixers and Agitators. The section/paragraph numbers and the associated headings used in this Practice correspond to the ones used in PIP RESM003. Because this Practice does not take exception to all the requirements in PIP RESM003, the section/paragraph numbers in this Practice may not be sequential.
