Scope and Applicability.
Consistent with reference (c) and as specified in subparagraph 4(d) below, this OPNAV Notice transfers responsibility for the safety, security and maintenance, including isolation (tag-out) and operation of shipboard systems, from Commanding Officers (CO), USS Zumwalt and CO, USS Michael Monsoor to CO, SSGC for the DDG 1000 and DDG 1001 BYMPs. Additionally, it transfers oversight of the transferred responsibility from Commander, Naval Surface Forces (COMNAVSURFOR) to Commander, Naval Sea Systems Command. This transfer is effective from crew move off (CMO) until crew move aboard (CMA) for each BYMP conducted at Huntington Ingalls Industries, Ingalls Shipbuilding.
Purpose.
To define the scope of responsibilities relieved and transferred for United States Ship (USS) Zumwalt (DDG 1000) and USS Michael Monsoor (DDG 1001) Build Yard Modernization Periods (BYMP).
