scope:
This guide provides recommendations for the development of consistent guides, agreements, and/or methodologies for the evaluation and intercompany cooperation of managing pole attachments on electric utility infrastructure.
Purpose
The purpose of this joint use guide is to provide information to help develop consistent rules, agreements, and/or methodologies for managing the interaction of communications attachments with electric supply facilities on overhead utility infrastructure. The common considerations for joint use, such as clearances and loading and strength requirements, are discussed. Included are general guidelines and considerations for performing joint use attachment installations, with several sections specific to the analysis of colocated small cell communications antennas and related equipment, while being consistent with multiple workers' safety rules. Although the information in this guide should be universally useful, the focus is on applications in the United States and its practices and regulations.
