This document applies to those undertaking the plant approval process (S1171) for London Underground (LU) with specific guidance provided within for various non-railborne plant (S1174).

Guidance paired with specific London Underground requirements will be preceded with the designation, (LU) before the body of text.

Purpose

The purpose of this guidance is to support the standard detailing engineering requirements for non-railborne plant designed or adapted for railway use and also for other non-railborne plant intended for use in locations or circumstances where particular risks must be managed.

This document should be read in conjunction with standard S1174.
