This guidance should be read by permanent staff, non-permanent labour (NPL) and consultants who are required to undertake the R0622 System Engineer Competency Scheme.

The scope covers only the completion of the competency form. Further guidance on the overall competency scheme is included in the above reference document and within the competency form itself.

This guidance is particularly valuable for anyone undertaking the scheme for the first time. It also includes guidance in respect of renewing assessments at the end of the scheme validity period or if a previous assessment has been allowed to lapse.

Purpose

The purpose of this guidance is to provide assistance to those completing the competency forms F4028 and F4029 required for the competency for Systems Engineering assessment process (R0622).

By following this guidance, the aim is to:

• Provide a consistency of completion

• Minimise the time required to complete the form

• Achieve a right first-time submission, where "right" means the capture of the information necessary to enable the assessors to determine competency as described by the scheme.

• Minimise the time required by assessors to review the form and prepare for interviews.

• Provide a good audit record

• Minimise the time required for subsequent re-assessments
