Purpose:

This issuance is composed of several volumes, each containing its own purpose. In accordance with the authority in DoD Instruction (DoDI) 4140.01 and the July 13, 2018 Deputy Secretary of Defense Memorandum:

• This manual:

o Implements policy, assigns responsibilities, and provides procedures for DoD materiel managers and others who work within or with the DoD supply system consistent with DoDI 4140.01.

o Establishes standard terminology for use in DoD supply chain materiel management.

• This volume establishes DoD supply chain materiel management processes associated with the repair, modification, overhaul, production, manufacturing, and testing of materiel.
