This Level 3 mandatory standard and the requirements of the Network Rail Train Operations Manual are mandatory for persons employed within Network Rail functions where Network Rail Train Operation and/or Rail Vehicle Engineering Management is undertaken.
Locomotive hauled or multiple unit trains, Multi Purpose Vehicles (MPV), RRV or RMMM are operated within engineering possessions on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure (NRMI) by Network Rail's contractors. The requirements of the Industry Mandatory section of this manual are mandatory for these contractors.
Purpose of this standard
This Level 3 mandatory standard supports NR/CS/OPS/046, The Train Operations Manual. It bears the authorising signatures for the Train Operations Manual and contains the Contents list. It forms the first of the procedures in the Train Operations Manual and is issued every time there is a change to other procedures in the manual.
Purpose of the Train Operations Manual
The Train Operations Manual is a working document, intended for Network Rail functions, providing a central reference point for information, systems and procedural requirements for Network Rail in-possession operation of Road Rail Vehicles (RRV) or Rail Mounted Maintenance Machines (RMMM).
The Train Operations Manual Industry Mandatory Section is intended for Network Rail's Contractors and Suppliers involved in the operation of engineering trains and rail mounted plant in engineering possessions on NRMI. The Industry Mandatory Section has its own Index and Introduction, to permit the controlled distribution of only those procedures relevant to Contractors and Suppliers.
