The requirements of this procedure apply to any individual operating signalling equipment for whom signalling is a core duty. It also applies to those involved in the management of these individuals.

This procedure should be read in conjunction with:

a) NR/L3/OPS/045/2.01 - Quality Assurance in Occupational Competence

b) NR/L3/OPS/045/2.12 - Operational Development Days and Safety Briefings;

c) NR/L3/OPS/045/2.14 - Additional Monitoring of Employees and Support Procedure;

d) NR/L3/OPS/045/2.15 - Visits to Employees at Operational Locations

e) NR/L3/OPS/045/2.16 - Monitoring the Quality of Spoken Communications; and

f) NR/L3/OPS/045/2.17 - Signalling Location Training Plans

PURPOSE 

This procedure sets out the arrangements to be followed to assess the competence of and develop expertise in those who operate signalling equipment, such as signallers.
