scope:
This procedure applies to noise and vibration pollution resulting from maintenance activities carried out by or on behalf of the Maintenance business unit of Network Rail on Network Rail Controlled Infrastructure that has the potential to cause a nuisance to sensitive receptors e.g. residential housing, schools.
With regards to noise, this procedure does not apply to issues related to occupational noise as covered by the Noise at Work Regulations 1989.
This procedure applies if:
• You manage activities where there is a risk of noise or vibration pollution.
• You are involved or responsible for activities where there is a risk of noise or vibration.
• You are responsible for leading environmental management.
Purpose
The purpose of this procedure is to define the Maintenance business units responsibilities with regard to addressing noise and vibration nuisance from maintenance activities and ensure compliance with legislation and standards.
