Introduction

Most railway signs which are required to be retro-reflective are referenced to BS873: Part 6 and divide the requirement into Class 1 (most reflective), Class 2 or Non-retroreflective. From 30/04/2008, BS873 has been replaced by a harmonised standard BS EN12899-1 2007 and materials tested to the old standard are no longer available.

The new standard is not exactly equivalent to the old but, for practical purposes, references may be converted.
