Introduction

The IECC currently makes use of box type nodes to provide communication between subsystems and the Superlink networks. These have proved to be unreliable when the internal temperature is higher than 35 degrees C.

Nine Tiles Limited have now produced rack mounted versions of the nodes as well as a self healing backplane which allows node cards (failed or otherwise) to be removed and inserted without loss of the network. Both the nodes and the backplane have been acceptance tested by Engineering Research and Development and have now been approved for use.

The following sections define configuration of the rack mounted nodes and the method of retrofitting them as a replacement for the box type nodes.
