Organization: NR
Publication Date: 1 August 1999
Status: inactive
Page Count: 13
scope:

This Notice applies to all points operated by an electro-hydraulic power pack, including clamp locks, swing nose crossings, non-lockable yard points and Joss Lock points (electro-pneumatic points mechanism converted to electro-hydraulic operation).

Purpose

A number of BR 817 electro-hydraulic power packs have been identified with a design defect which may give an ambiguous result if the method for checking the system for the presence of air as given in Appendix B of RT/SIN/064 (Issues 1 & 2) is followed. Furthermore, the test itself has been found to be unreliable when used with the more recent versions of power pack. This Notice prescribes a revised test method which will detect air and directs that it shall be used on all electro-hydraulic points.
