This specification applies to all staff who may be required to pass on information regarding booster transformer outages, to those staff who shall determine the practical consequences and to all staff working on telecoms cables or circuits connected to them in areas electrified by the 25kV AC overhead line electrification system and who may, as a result, have to implement additional safety precautions when a booster transformer is strapped out of service in accordance with Network Rail Company Procedure RT/E/P/24011.

Purpose

This specification details the actions to be taken during a booster transformer outage to protect staff from the possibility of receiving an electric shock from contact with telecoms cables or circuits connected to them.
