This Specification applies to Longitudinal Timbers supporting track on Network Rail infrastructure. The track may be directly supported by the Longitudinal Timbers or carried on cross-sleepered track on Longitudinal Timbers.

PURPOSE

This Specification provides direction on the installation, maintenance and inspection of Longitudinal Timber Systems on Network Rail infrastructure. It also provides requirements on design matters. Requirements for the installation, maintenance and inspection of supporting structures is not provided.

This document is to be read in conjunction with RT/CE/S/038 (NR/SP/TRK/038): Longitudinal Timbers - Design, Installation and Maintenance.
