This Manual provides direction and guidance on the general principles of safety, quality, environment and technical auditing, the management of audit programmes, the process for carrying out management system audits and the qualifications for management system auditors. It is applicable to all parts of the business operating under Railtrack's safety case and management system and thus having a need to manage internal and external management system audits. Whilst the principles will be useful, this manual does not cover commercial or financial audits.
