scope:

1.1 These requirements cover hand-operated pumps intended to handle flammable and combustible liquids and battery operated pumps intended to handle combustible liquids.

1.2 Hand-operated pumps are intended to be attached to a threaded flange in the head or side of a barrel, drum, or other similar container. Battery operated pumps are intended to siphon the liquid from one approved container to another approved container.

1.3 Liquids as used herein refers to the liquids shown in (a) - (n) and the vapors of these liquids:

1. a) Gasoline;
2. b) Gasoline/ethanol blends up to 15 % ethanol;
3. c) Gasoline/methanol blends up to 15 % methanol;
4. d) Diesel fuel;
5. e) Fuel oil;
6. f) Lubricating oil;
7. g) Kerosene.
8. h) Motor oil;
9. i) Automatic transmission fluid;
10. j) Power steering fluid;
11. k) Engine Coolant/Antifreeze Windshield washer fluid;
12. n) Non-potable water; and
13. o) Brake Fluid.

Hand operated pumps investigated to the requirements of this outline shall be evaluated to the applicable fuels from (a) - (o) as specified by the manufacturer.

1.4 Hand-operated pumps are evaluated in accordance with the applicable installation and operational requirements in the Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code, NFPA 30.

1.5 This outline does not cover hand-operated pumps for liquids other than shown in 3.
