This Specification applies to track ballast and stoneblower aggregate for use in Open and Sub-surface sections of the LU network.

Note: It is unlikely that stoneblowing will be carried out in Sub-surface sections, as stoneblowers are diesel-powered

This Specification is equivalent to 1-157 A3 clause 7.3 except that the particle size distribution of stoneblower aggregate has been amended to match that used by Network Rail.

Purpose

The purpose of this Specification is to define the material quality for track ballast and stoneblower aggregate and to give recommendations for the testing regime for quality assurance auditing.
