Photography - Digital cameras - Measuring shooting time lag, shutter release time lag, shooting rate, and start-up time

pending, Most Current
Organization: DS
Status: pending
Page Count: 33
ICS Code (Photographic equipment. Projectors): 37.040.10
scope:

This international standard defines the terms shooting time lag, shutter release time lag, shooting rate, and start-up time when used in the area of digital photography. It describes how to measure and report these timing values for digital still cameras, camera modules used in the area of "mobile imaging", and other devices used to capture still images. The standard provides at least one method that allows determining the timing values without access to the inside of the camera. Depending on the method used to start the timing device there may be a time lag between the actuation of the timing device and the closure of the exposure switch of the camera. The acceptable level of this time lag is application dependent and needs to be considered prior to performing an experiment and the estimated error caused by this time lag shall be reported together with the results (see Annex B). The described way to measure the time lags shall not be used to measure the auto focus accuracy and speed at low light conditions.
