scope:
This standard applies to any person wishing to apply for a rolling stock material concession against a standard or specification.
Material concession requests shall be submitted using the Material Concession Template.
This standard deals with the interim measures for using materials that are not compliant with drawings, specifications or standards.
Purpose
This standard defines the activities and responsibilities associated with the management of rolling stock materials concessions. This is to ensure a formalised agreement is in place to use a batch of material that is not to standard or specification. A materials concession is an Interim Measure and is not to be used as a permanent measure. All proposed permanent measures should be covered under the Change to Rolling Stock process.
Compliance with this standard ensures that there is a competent safety and technical review of all material concessions.
This standard is not to be confused with LU Standard 1-641 Concessions to Standards which applies to anyone who needs to apply for a Concession against a Category 1 (e.g. standard 1-085 Fire Safety Performance of Materials), Category 5 or Mixed Category Standard or against a Category 2 Standard owned by a Nominee Company.
