La norma specifica i requisiti per i provvedimenti di protezione contro gli effetti delle correnti vaganti che possono risultare nei sistemi di trazione a corrente continua. Essa si applica a tutte le installazioni metalliche fisse di trazione o presenti in ambito ferroviario.
A completamento della presente Norma si consulti il documento EN 50122/A1:2002-04.
La presente Norma é annullata e sostituita dalla Nuova edizione, CEI EN 50122-2:2011-10 (CEI 9-6-2); tuttavia rimane applicabile fino al 1-10-2013.
