Organization: DIN
Publication Date: 1 September 2010
Status: active
Page Count: 21
ICS Code (Astronomy. Geodesy. Geography): 07.040
scope:

This standard applies to the planning, execution, evaluation and documentation of site surveys (inventory surveys, called site surveys in this document). It defines the essential requirements on measurements to determine the position and sizes of objects.

Site surveys are conducted for all objects relating to buildings and civil engineering works, process plant and machinery construction, infrastructures, traffic facilities as well as other engineering structures (see DIN 18709-1) when the results are needed for:

- planning and obtaining permits for projects;

- acceptance and verification inspections;

- compiling as-built and actual-condition documentation and

- creating geospatial databases.

This standard specifies rules for ensuring the quality (see DIN EN ISO 9001) of site surveys and standardizes information and evidence to be provided by such surveys. Application of the standard contributes to achieving trustworthy survey results and providing the data obtained by the survey in a form that is complete and correct for the intended use. It also ensures that survey results can be interpreted unambiguously.

NOTE  For as-built documentation for the purpose of checking the geometry of construction works or recording evidence, see DIN 18710-4.
