This document specifies the recommended functionality and assurances for electronic signature verification, in the light of the recommendations in Annex IV from the Directive and in the interest of the comsumer. Its primary purpose is to provide guidance on the way to verify qualified electronic signatures that are equivalent to manual signatures according to the chapter 5.1 from the Directive and to explain the importance of the use of time-stamping and/or time marking for the later verification of the signature.
