Process management for avionics - Atmospheric radiation effects -- Part 1: Accommodation of atmospheric radiation effects via single event effects within avionics electronic equipment

pending, Most Current
Organization: DS
Status: pending
Page Count: 63
ICS Code (Aircraft and space vehicles in general): 49.020
scope:

This Technical Specification defines the minimum requirements for general purpose 'off the shelf' COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) integrated circuits and discrete semiconductors for ADHP (Aerospace, Defence and High Performance) applications. This specification shall be used with caution in ADHP designs. ADHP application requirements may not necessarily be fulfilled by this specification alone. ADHP OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) may need to consider redesign of their products or conduct further testing to verify suitability in ADHP applications using their IEC TS 62239 ECMP procedures. Alternatively a component in accordance with IEC/TS62564-1 may be more suitable. Further guidance is given in IEC TS 62239. This specification complements IEC/TS 62564-1, Aerospace Qualified Electronic Components (AQEC). IEC/TS 62564-1 shall be used for ADHP applications where additional manufacturer's data is required beyond the publicly available manufacturer published datasheets e.g. where additional thermal performance data is required for thermally challenging applications or when additional verification data are needed for example to comply with the requirements of RTCA DO-254/EUROCAE ED-80 for complex components for flight critical applications etc. This specification shall be used wherever possible for all other lower complexity components that typically can be applied to operate in high reliability applications within the manufacturers publicly available datasheet limits. It is recommended that this specification be used in conjunction with IEC/TS 62239 for ADHP applications. This specification can also be used to comply with the typical qualification requirements of IEC/TS 62564-1. This specification includes all requirements of STACK Specification S/0001 revision 14 as published as IEC/PAS 62686-1, with revisions for alternative IEC qualification test methods and additional test information. This specification is dependent on the manufacturer achieving Third Party ISO9001 certification. The Annexes are informative and are as follows: Annex A.1, Test Code Information, provides a summary of the JEDEC, MIL spec or IEC Test Methods Annex A.2, Cross reference to STACK specification S/0001 revision 14, includes crossreferencing information to STACK S/0001 revision 14 paragraphs. Note: Adoption of the STACK Specification S/0001 revision 14 will enable all existing STACK Certified manufacturers to be audited by IECQ under the new STACK-IECQ joint venture.
