OVERVIEW AND PROCESS

The LEED 2009 for Neighborhood Development Rating System is a set of performance standards for certifying the planning and development of neighborhoods. The intent is to promote healthful, durable, affordable, and environmentally sound practices in building design and construction. Prerequisites and credits in the rating system address five topics:

  • Smart Location and Linkage (SLL) 
  • Neighborhood Pattern and Design (NPD) 
  • Green Infrastructure and Buildings (GIB) 
  • Innovation and Design Process (IDP) 
  • Regional Priority Credit (RPC)
