This report describes experimental work, sponsored by the Pressure Vessel Research Committee, aimed at obtaining information concerning the effect of external loadings transmitted through cylindrical nozzle connections in spherical shells. The attachment details tested represent nozzle configurations commonly used in practical application, in which the nozzle projects beyond the inner surface of the shell and is attached by means of heavy weld fillets.
