WRC - BULLETIN 143

CAST HEAT-RESISTANT ALLOYYS FOR HIGH-TEMPERATURE WELDMENTS

active, Most Current
Organization: WRC
Publication Date: 1 August 1969
Status: active
scope:

The metal in castings and the filler metal in weldments have much in common. Where such weldments are intended for use at high temperatures, with hot-gas corrosion resistance and creep-rupture strength as properties necessary for satisfactory service, the series of cast chromium-nickel-iron alloys made by the high-alloy foundries are important industrial materials upon which many technological processes depend. These are the subject of this paper, prepared in the form of an interpretive report, with sections on composition, specifications, creep-rupture, metallography, individual cast grades, thermal stresses, thermal fatigue, carburization, service above 1800F (982C), weldability, and weld performance.
