WRC - BULLETIN 191

SUGGESTED ARC-WELDING PROCEDURES FOR STEELS MEETING STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS

active, Most Current
Organization: WRC
Publication Date: 1 January 1974
Status: active
scope:

This WRC Bulletin. is an updating of the tables of suggested practices for shielded metal-arc welding of carbon and low-alloy steels contained in Chapter 8 of the book "Weldability of Steels"* by Stout and Doty. Since the manuscript of the book was prepared, new or revised specifications for steel have been issued by ASTM, AISI, SAE, ABS and API; while other specifications were discontinued. The Welding Research Council requested that the authors provide a new table of welding procedures, including the specifications which were changed. This has been done, with a cut-off date for specification changes of August 1,1973. This report includes: Chapter 8 text explaining the scope and application of the suggested welding practices (with minor revisions). Tables of suggested practices generally required for sound welding. The format of the tables remains unchanged, containing the nominal chemical composition and tensile properties of each specification steel and grade. The item sequence numbers are different, of course, because of added specifications, and deletions
