WRC - BULLETIN 247

CORROSION RESISTANCE OF BRAZED JOINTS

active, Most Current
Organization: WRC
Publication Date: 1 April 1979
Status: active
scope:

Corrosion resistance is a common concern of those wishing to use brazed joints. Brazing incorporates a bond of dissimilar materials, thus the danger of corrosion due to galvanic action or preferential attack is always of concern. Since the area of the braze is necessarily small compared to the base materials, severe preferential attack of the braze can cause failure quickly. Unfortunately, information specific to brazed joints is incomplete and widely scattered. This interpretive report attempts to survey the state-of-the-art and record in one place the information available on the corrosion resistance of brazed joints.
