WRC - BULLETIN 331

METALLURGICAL INVESTIGATION ON THE SCATTER OF TOUGHNESS IN THE WELDMENT OF PRESSURE VESSEL STEELS – PART I: CURRENT COOPERATIVE RESEARCH

active, Most Current
Organization: WRC
Publication Date: 1 February 1988
Status: active
scope:

An aluminum-killed C-Mn steel was welded by these welding methods (SMAW, SAW and TSAW) and their weldment toughness was evaluated by Charpy impact and CTOD tests. Controlling and scattering factors of toughness in the weldment have been studied in the view point of notch location in the welded joint and direction of fatigue precrack (through notch and surface notch).
