Literature Survey of Half-Bead/Temper-Bead/Controlled Deposition Techniques for improvement of Fabrication and Service Performance of Cr-Mo Steels WRC Bulletin 499 provides an extensive review of the Literature pertaining to as-weld repair techniques of materials that require Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) by Codes or for in-service conditions that require PWHT for best weld repair performance provided the basis for performing additional weld repair studies of the typical Cr-Mo materials in service in the Power and Refining industries. The review provides key information as to weld failure modes and locations within the weld joint to be repaired. The metallurgy of the various alloys is described and the approaches researchers have taken to perform weld repairs, both as-welded and PWHT. Some in-service performance of repair welds is reported as well, providing confidence in the success of the additional weld repair studies reported in a future Bulletin
