WRC - BULLETIN 434
DESIGN AND INSERVICE MARGINS OF POWER PIPING SYSTEMS: A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF U. S., CANADIAN AND EUROPEAN CODES & STANDARDS
| Organization: | WRC |
| Publication Date: | 1 August 1998 |
| Status: | active |
scope:
This bulletin compares US, UK, Canada, France Germany, Holland, Norway and Sweden codes and standards for the design of piping systems in power plants. The comparison includes fossil and non-safety nuclear power plant piping, and nuclear safety power plant piping where they exist. The review focuses on design equations for sizing and stress qualification of power piping. Difference in material and construction are not addressed. Each of the applicable codes and standards are discussed separately in Sections 3 through 9, and Section 10 illustrates some of the differences between design equations by applying various rules to the same pipe and loading. A listing of in-service codes and standards for piping is provided in Section 11. The work was co-sponsored by PVRC and the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Publication of this document - WRC Bulletin 434 was sponsored by the Pressure Vessel Research Council of the Welding Research Council
