scope:

This Network Rail standard specifies wagon loading patterns and is applicable to Network Rail, Contractors and Suppliers, who carry out, examine, manage or audit loading activities on (non-commercial) freight trains, that are operated on Network Rail Infrastructure for the purpose of renewing or maintaining the infrastructure.

Loading of commercial freight trains, not infrastructure traffic, is not covered by this standard. Persons carrying out commercial freight train activities shall obtain the required loading information from the Freight Operator concerned.

Purpose

This standard provides the index and version control of the modules contained within The Loading Manual for Infrastructure Traffic.

This standard also provides modules that contain all loading patterns applicable to infrastructure traffic.

This standard enables Network Rail to meet the requirements of GO/RM3056 Working Manual for Rail Staff: Freight Train Operations and GO/RT3056/G Safe Loading of Freight.

NOTE It is important to note that this manual should be read in conjunction with and is dependant upon Rules, Regulations and any other safety or operations related instructions issued by Network Rail. No instruction or information should be read or interpreted as replacing, modifying or cancelling any such Rule, Regulation, or instruction and where any conflict is found between this manual and such Rules etc. then the Rules etc. shall be deemed as correct.
