General

This leaflet assists London Underground operational staff responding to an incident when a road vehicle has collided with a bridge which either:

• carries the railway, or

• goes over the railway.

All bridges on London Underground have been deemed capable of withstanding the impact from road vehicles. Unless there is a request to suspend the service, trains should continue to operate through the incident at 15mph (24kph) until Engineers have confirmed that it is safe to return to line speed. There is no engineering reason for imposing a lower speed.
