GENERAL
The Permanent Current Rail Indicator Device (P-CRID) is a permanently fixed traction current status indication device designed to improve the safety of staff accessing the track or those whose work might affect the track. Only those staff trained or briefed to use a P-CRID should use it as the primary method for determining traction current status.
P-CRIDs are installed trackside:
• at stations, positioned so that the traction current indicator display can be safely seen from the station platform;
• at substation gaps, so that the traction current indicator display for the traction current ahead can be safely seen before accessing that section.
